報告人及內(nèi)容簡介:
Daniel Allen-Ross is a 2nd year PhD Student of Pharmacology at the University of Reading. Graduating from the University of Brighton with a BSc Biological Sciences in 2021, Daniel has spent 10+ years in scientific industry accelerating drug discovery and in-vivo experimentation. Whilst studying for his PhD focusing on the analgesic effect of psilocybin in chronic pain, he is also working in the Veterinary Rehabilitation industry and even has time to be an avid dog sport competitor with 6 of his own dogs.
Daniel will present his work on the analgesic properties of psilocybin in neuropathic chronic pain. His work focuses on neuropathy induced in-vivo models and the assessment of pain like behaviour through a chronic pain state. As pain is subjective to an individual, he tests a range of cognitive functional assays such as pain, anxiety and depression due to the connected serotonergic pathway and the modulation of the 5-HT2A receptor. Daniel will present all the surgical models and behavioural assays to generate this data to showcase significant data found in the past 15 months of the PhD.
