Henan University of Technology (HAUT), located in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, was established in 1956. It launched its bachelor programs in 1959, master programs in 1981, and doctoral programs in 2013. Co-sponsored by Henan Provincial Government and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, HAUT is on the first list of the national 2011 Project of Collaborative Innovation, and is accredited with the Midwest University Foundation Competence Construction Project and the Outstanding Engineers Training Project by the Ministry of Education. The university is also on the first list of the Key and Distinctive Discipline Construction Project of Henan Province and is accredited with the Distinctive and Key University Construction Project of Henan Province. HAUT is renowned among the colleges and universities in China for its successful experiences in promoting the employment of graduates and is on the list of the top 100 universities in China for its scientific and technological competitiveness. In 2021, the university was selected to join the“Double First-class”University Building Project sponsored by Henan Province.
Since its establishment, the university has been consistently sticking to the orientation of “Rooted in the Central Plains, Based on the Industry, Serving the Nation, and Oriented to the World”, and strictly adhering to the school-running concept of “Student-centered, Quality-oriented and Characteristic Development”. The university owns 4 national science and technology innovation platforms, i.e. National Engineering Research Centre for Deep Processing of Wheat and Corn, National Engineering Research Centre for Grain Storage and Transportation, National Research Centre for Grain Processing Equipment Engineering Technology, and National Research Centre for Wheat Engineering Technology. It also has 56 science and technology innovation platforms at the provincial and ministerial levels, including Key Laboratory of Grain Information Processing and Control of the Ministry of Education, Engineering Research Centre for Grain Storage and Security of the Ministry of Education, China Grain Logistics Research and Training Centre, and Food Laboratory of the Central Plains, with the total value of the teaching and research instruments and equipments being 817 million RMB. HAUT has built the Pre-museum of China Grain Museum and serves as the Zhengzhou training base for national grain industry and the further education base for national technical professionals.
HAUT covers an area of 1.938 million square meters, with a gross floor area of 1.062 million square meters. It is selected as the leading digital campus in Henan Province, and the pilot university for the building of smart campus and on-line learning space.
HAUT has a faculty of 2,704 with a total number of 314 distinguished scholars, including academicians from developed countries, concurrently employed academicians, the Yangtze River Scholars, scholars sponsored by the National Outstanding Young Scholars Project, scholars selected into the “Hundred, Thousand Talents National Project”, scholars sponsored by the State Council, renowned professors selected into the Ten Million Excellent Teachers Project, the New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education, and the Central Plains Scholars, etc. It has built 29 teaching and scientific research teams at the national and provincial levels. The university has over 39,000 full-time students, among which 3,680 being postgraduates. HAUT has cultivated more than 230,000 talents for the country since its establishment. Over half of the excellent administrators and technological backbones in the grain industry are graduates from HAUT, which has been renowned as the talents cultivation base for the grain industry.
